Library

Welcome back, Little Eagles!

We have reorganized our library to be user friendly for the young readers that we serve.  All books are separated into sections based on their topic or genre. This process makes it easy for the students to find books on subjects that interest them quickly and efficiently. We have books for everyone to read and enjoy. Some books will be read by the children and others will be enjoyed by children with an adult reader.

Research has proven that the future success in reading is dependent on the "lap" time a child has before they are 5 years old. Recommended time reading with an adult is 1,000 hours.

Library Rules/Procedures

  1. Students have a scheduled library visit with their class every week.
  2. Books are due on the student's scheduled library day. We will not be able to check out a book to students who have not returned their previous check out.
  3. While fines are not charged at the elementary level, students must be diligent in returning books in a timely manner.
  4. Accidents do happen....but lost or damaged books must be paid for so we can replace that copy. Students may not check out books until the fine is paid. (Remember: books should be kept away from Water, Food, Toddlers and Pets)

Join Our Birthday Book Club

Dear Parents or Guardians,

We would like to invite you and your child to become part of our Birthday Book Club at Barbers Hill Early Childhood Center. This is a great way for parents, grandparents and friends to honor a special student by donating a book to the library on his or her birthday. The donation for a birthday book is $20.00. We have a special selection of new books in the library from which you or the student may choose. A bookplate with the child’s name will be permanently placed in the front of the book. Your child will be the first to check out the book from the library and then may return it to share with other students. This is a very personal way to celebrate your child on his or her birthday and also help our school to add wonderful new books to the library. If you would like to participate in the Birthday Book Club, please complete the form below and return it to the school in an envelope marked BHECC Library. Books may be donated in honor of children with summer birthdays anytime during the school year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 281-576-2221 ext. 3130 or jaclyn.fagg@bhisd.net
